The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is March 31. If you do not link your PAN with Aadhaar by March 31, it will become inoperative. You can be fined Rs 10,000 for using an inoperative PAN. To avoid this problem, Aadhar-PAN linking has to be done as soon as possible.

How to check if PAN Card is linked with your Aadhaar Card?
  • Go to the official website of the Income Tax Department, incometax.gov 
  • Here at the bottom you will find the option of Link Aadhaar Status, click on it.
  • Enter your Aadhaar and PAN number and click on View Aadhaar Link Status.
  • On clicking on this, information about whether Aadhaar-PAN is linked or not will appear on the screen.
How to link PAN Card and Aadhaar Card?
  • Go to the official website of the Income Tax Department, incometax.gov 
  • The option of Link Aadhaar will be available on the side. Clicking on it will open a new page.
  • Now, enter the PAN number, Aadhaar number and the name entered in the Aadhaar card and click on the link Aadhaar.
  • After this the Income Tax Department will put your two numbers in the process of linking.

What will happen if your PAN Card is not linked with your Aadhaar Card?
  • If any PAN cardholders do not link PAN with Aadhaar, then their PAN will be declared inoperative. 
  • After this, you will not be able to use your PAN for financial transactions.
  • If PAN is inactive, you will not be able to do transactions of more than 50 thousand rupees.
