20-year-old Ludhiana boy drowns in Canada, kin seek help

The statement said officers were told three men were seen in the water and went missing after going down the rapids.

A 20-year-old youth of Ludhiana city drowned in a sea at Huntsville, Ontario in Canada on June 27.

Anmol Sharma, along with his two friends had gone to a picnic at Huntsville, Ontario where in a tragic drowning incident, he and one of his friends lost their lives.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police statement, emergency crews were called to the Port Sydney Falls area, located on the south side of Mary Lake and almost 20 kilometres south of downtown Huntsville, at around 2 p.m.

The statement said officers were told three men were seen in the water and went missing after going down the rapids. Later on, 20-year-old Anmol Sharma was subsequently found dead by members of the OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit.

Deceased’s cousin brother Vaibhav Sharma said his funeral will be held at Brampton Crematorium & Visitation Centre on 10 July 2021.

He said that Anmol’s father Suraj Prakash needs an urgent emergency VISA from India to Canada to attend his funeral but they are unable to reach the Canadian Embassy in India since the date of death as they have failed to respond to their mails and calls.

He said they have been trying their best to reach the Canadian Embassy, but he urged the political leaders and among others to help them in this hour of crisis. He dropped his contact number 7888644413 and sought help from others in case they have contacts or links through which an emergency Visa for his father could be arranged.
