6th Ayurveda Day celebrated in Dayanand Ayurvedic College with the theme “Ayurveda for Poshan” on 2nd November 2021

Ayurveda is one of the most ancient and well documented systems of medicines equally relevant in modern era also. Dayanand Ayurvedic College was established in 1898, before partition in Lahore, since then it is providing Ayruveda education and serving the humanity by providing treatment to various dreadful diseases which remain unanswered in other system of medicines.

Dayanand Ayruvedic College celebrated National Ayurveda Day on the occasion of Dhanwantri Jayanti on 2, November 2021. The aim behind the celebration of Ayurveda Day is to create a sense of awareness in today’s generation about Ayurveda and to promote Ayurvedic Principles of healing in the society. Ayurveda’s holistic approach whether for healthy individual or for disease ones remains unparalleled.

Principal Dr. Sanjeev Sood told that Union Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Sidda and Homeopathy) started the practice to observe the Ayurveda Day on Dhanwantri Jayanti, popularly known as Dhanteras. Dhanteras, the birthday of lord Dhanwantri is celebrated on the 13th Lunar Day in Kartik month of Indian calendar. It is believed that on this day, Lord Dhanwantri emerged with “Amrit Kalash” and considered as physician of Gods and God of Ayurvedic Medicine. He told that every year Ayurveda day is celebrated with a theme and this year theme is “Ayurveda for Poshan”. This theme will propagate the concepts of Nutrition in Ayurveda.

In the main function at the college special nutritious ladoos named Ayushman Modak were prepared at college Pharmacy following the concept of Ayurveda Diet and were distributed among the malnourished children in the nearby colonies. The event was coordinated by team of Dr. Binu Sharma, Dr. Parikshit Sharma and Dr. Amandeep Kaur. All the staff members were present on the occasion.
