It is reported that the devotees and the sevadars, nabbed him while he was trying to climb over the railing around the sanctum sanctorum where Sri Guru Granth Sahib is placed. He also picked up the kirpan while the Rehras Sahib (the evening prayer) was being recited.
He was taken to room no. 50 for investigation and when he didn’t tell his whereabouts his fingers were broken and hit on the head by iron bangles (kadas). The person succumbed to death because of injuries.
Thousands of Devotees Reached Sri Darbaar Sahib
At that time the evening prayers were being recited and the accused was waiting for his turn. When his turn came he climbed over the railing and picked up the kirpan lying in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. All this happened in a few moments.
4 Sevadaars nabbed the youth
Many paathis and sevadars of SGPC were there. Four sevadars nabbed the youth on doing this. When the accused protested he was taken to the nearby jungle. The sevadars also hit the accused with punches.
The deceased was of 24-25
DCP of Amritsar reached the Golden Temple and said that the deceased was of 24-25 and he was covering his head with yellow pataka. His behavior appeared absolutely normal.
The CCTV footage is being checked
Many CCTVs have been installed in the premises of the Golden Temple and the police are checking footage of each one of these. They are trying to find out whether the accused was alone or he had some accomplice with him.
The post mortem will be done on Sunday. After that the necessary action will be taken. No case has been registered so far.
