On Monday, third time in a row, Arvind Kejriwal took charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi after landslide win in Delhi Assembly elections, securing 62 out of 70 seats. However, the BJP bagged had to rest with eight seats and the Congress just like 2015 failed to open its account. Amit Shah had led the BJP aggressive campaign offensive against Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Assembly poll.

In his address after taking the oath on February 16, Arvind Kejriwal sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "blessings" and said he wanted to work in coordination with the Centre for smooth governance of the national capital. Kejriwal had said as the elections are over, the politics is also over and he has "forgiven" his opponents for the remarks they made during the poll campaign.

Kejriwal along with his cabinet colleagues Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Rajendra Pal Gautam and Kailash Gahlot were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal at the historic Ramlila Maidan that was a sea of tricolour with a large number of people and party supporters turning up for the event.
