Going by trends, Assembly elections will be set in five states Punjab 'Aam Aadmi Party' is on its way to becoming the first regional party to win the second state in history as they are currently leading with 90 seats out of 117 in Punjab.

And in Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath is set to become the first chief minister to return to power after a full five-year term as BJP currently leads with 270 out of 403 seats in UP. The results of these elections also indicate a change in national politics in the coming hours that who will rule their respective assemblies.

The results also indicate an emphasis on welfare politics in the country. While BJP's victory in the states can be attributed to welfare schemes and its effective delivery system, cutting across caste and religious lines, Kejriwal's politics is appreciated by voters as it focuses on welfare aspects.

The rise of AAP in Punjab with its stellar performance is going to create such waves which can lead to alliances at the national level as well. Political observers watching AAP closely see this demonstration as an endorsement of Kejriwal as a potential national leader against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This is because the current trends in Punjab indicate further disintegration of the Congress and the collapse of the leadership of the Gandhi family at the national level, which has failed those who viewed the Congress as a party that would defeat the opposition.  Could bind against Congress. BJP at the national level.

AAP's victory in the border state against all odds and the coming together of all other parties against it in the last few days before polling proves that Arvind Kejriwal has been able to win the confidence of voters as a credible alternative to established national parties including the BJP.  It has been successful, which otherwise continues its winning campaign in other states where elections were held.

With a landslide victory in Punjab, Kejriwal may focus on Gujarat, where elections are due later this year. The AAP has already made a substantial lead in the civic polls held in Gandhinagar and Surat last year.
