Covid-19 updates: As active cases tally goes up, India again on the list of 15 countries with maximum number of Covid-19 cases

The active cases in India have seen a sudden surge in the last few days including states like Maharashtra. Because of this, India has now become one of the most infected countries in the world.

India has once again on the list of 15 countries in the world having the most active cases, meaning such patients are undergoing treatment, the rest are either cured or they have succumbed to the virus. Portugal, on January 30 acquired the 17th position, overtaking Indonesia and Ireland. 

The active cases in India have seen a sudden surge in the last few days including states like Maharashtra. Because of this, India has now become one of the most infected countries in the world.

While the United States, the UK and France are amongst the worst-hit nations, with more than 92 lakh patients being treated here. France has 3.2 million active cases and Britain with 1.6 million. Whereas, Brazil, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Russia, Mexico, Poland, Ireland, Indonesia, Argentina and India are countries having more number of active cases. 

Adding 13 thousand and 919 new covid cases, active cases in nine states and union territories have seen a rise on Saturday, with 2486 cases of new active cases. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Puducherry, Tripura and Chandigarh have reported fresh covid-19 cases more than cured patients. India so far has recorded 1.09 million cases of coronavirus with over 1 crore 9 lakh 91 thousand infection cases, while 1 lakh 56 thousand 339 patients have died due to the virus. India, presently, has 1 lakh, 42 thousand 691 patients, under treatment. 

 

Latest Covid-19 update:

 - More than 5 thousand variants of the corona found in the country have been researched by scientists of Hyderabad's Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB). It was found that the N440K variant of Corona is the most spread in South India. However, how and where the variant is spreading is not known yet.

- Coronavirus testing across the country has crossed the 21 million mark, with 5.21 per cent of people being infected with the disease. With increasing cases of covid-19, it is mandatory for people coming from Maharashtra and Kerala in Karnataka to bring negative reports of RT-PCR. State Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said that new cases of infected patients are increasing rapidly in both states, adding that variants of South Africa and Brazil have not been found in the state.

Covid-19 states updates: 

- Maharashtra has reported 6,281 covid cases on Saturday, while as many as 2,567 patients recovered from the infection and 40 killed due to the disease. So far, 20 lakh 93 thousand 913 people have been affected by the infection, out of which 19 lakh 92 thousand 530 people have been cured. 51 thousand 753 have lost their lives due to the pandemic and 48 thousand 439 patients are currently being treated.

- With 4,650 new infections being reported on Saturday, the number of recoveries in Kerala reported was 5,841 and the number of deaths registered was 13. So far, the number of infection cases reported in the state is 10 lakh, 30 thousand 588 people, out of these 9 lakh 67 thousand 630 patients have been cured and 4,075 have lost their lives, while 58,609 are undergoing treatment.

- Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday, reported 257 new covid-19 positive cases, with 213 patients recovered from the infection and four succumbing to the disease. The state by far has registered 2 lakh 59 thousand 128 Covid-19 cases, out of which 2 lakh 53 thousand 284 patients have been cured, while 3,850 patients died and 1,994 patients are currently being treated.

- On Saturday, Gujarat reported 258 new covid-19 infection cases and 270 recoveries. So far, 2 lakh 66 thousand 821 people have been infected by the disease in the state, of these, 2 lakh 60 thousand 745 people have been cured, while 4404 patients have died of the infection and as many as 1,672 patients are undergoing treatment. 

- With 98 more people being infected by Covid-19, Rajasthan on Saturday reported 66 recoveries from the disease, while the number of deaths reported was one. The number of infections reported in the state so far is 3 lakh 19 thousand 461 people, of these, 3 lakh 15 thousand 376 people have been cured, while 2,785 patients have died. 1,300 patients are undergoing treatment.

- Delhi on Saturday has reported 152 fresh coronavirus cases and 179 recoveries. The number of deaths reported was one, while 6 lakh 25 thousand 832 patients have been cured of the disease out of 6 lakh 37 thousand 755 total number of infections. So far 10 thousand 898 patients have died in the national capital of the disease and as many as 1025 people undergoing treatment.
