Deep Sidhu arrested in Karnal reveals after Red Fort, plan was to reach India Gate during interrogation

Punjabi singer and actor Deep Sidhu, one of the main accused of the violence at Red Fort on January 26 was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell from Karnal in Haryana. He is accused of hoisting the flag in the ramparts of the Red Fort during a farmers' tractor rally. Deep Sidhu was absconding since the incident. Delhi Police had also placed a reward of one lakh rupees on Sidhu. Despite being absconding, Sidhu was continuously releasing video messages through Facebook. Delhi Police had recently claimed that he was putting videos on social media through a close friend of his.

How Delhi Police Special Unit Arrested Deep Sidhu:

Going by the various media reports,  Deep was arrested from Karnal in Haryana while he was waiting for someone to pick him up. DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said, "We have arrested Deep Sidhu involved in the Red Fort violence. Deep was arrested from Karnal in Haryana while he was waiting for someone to pick him up. He will be handed over to the Crime branch at the Tees Hazari court. He was changing the location since the time he fled away after descending of the National Flag happened at the Red Fort".

Reports state that Delhi Police had sent five to six teams to arrest Deep and therefore his own friends started getting hesitant to give him shelter. In fact, sources also revealed that Deep was wearing the same clothes for the past 4 to 5 days. Following this, Deep got in touch with one of his associates who offered him help and promised to arrange a car from Karnal, Haryana. 

What The Initial Interrogation Has Revealed?

Going by the reports of Times Now, Deep has told the Delhi Police that felt leaders were going soft in their talks with the government and during tractor rally meetings with the Delhi Police.  Deep reached Delhi with farmers on 28th November and few days before the Republic Day parade, Sidhu along with his supporters decided to breach the designated route.  Deep Sidhu then asked his supporters to steal a fleece jacket which was to be given to volunteers and the idea was to reach Red Fort and if possible India Gate.

On being asked about any connection with radical Khalistani groups, Deep has totally denied it. The probe also revealed that absconding accused Jugraj Singh was specifically brought to hoist a religious flag.

A cash reward of Rs 50,000 each was also announced for Buta Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Jajbir Singh and Iqbal Singh for allegedly instigating protesters, said Delhi Police.
