Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today directed all the EROs to dispose of all the 97935 forms received during the special summary revision of the electoral roll by January 5, 2021, to ensure the final publication of the voters' list on January 15, 2021.
Presiding over a review meeting with all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), the deputy commissioner said that as many as 97,935 forms were received during the special summary revision through online and offline modes. He further added that these applications include 53,547 form no. 6, 24,931 form no. 7, 17,444 form no. 8, 2002 form no. 8A, and 11 form no. 6A. A total of 61,940 forms have been digitized including 33182 form no. 6, 16569 form no. 7, 10794 form no. 8, 1392 form no. 8A, and three form no. 6A, the deputy commissioner added.
The deputy commissioner added that out of these 97,935 forms a total of 61,940 forms have been digitized by the EROs. Further, he asked all the officials to expedite the digitization and disposal of these forms so that the final publication of the voters’ list could be ensured within the stipulated time-frame.
The Deputy Commissioner pulled up officials having pendency above 50 percent and asked them to settle all the claims and objections by January 5, 2021, and submit a completion report. He categorically said that laxity in this task was highly unwarranted, and any delay would attract punitive action against the erring officials.
Notably, the Election Commission had invited claims and objections or the special summary revision (November 15 to December 15, 2020) of the electoral roll. These claims and objections were made through online and offline methods besides special camps on polling booths on November 21-22 and December 5-6, 2020.
