You don’t have to be a part of a full-fledged NGO or a person with strong and massive financial support during this time of Covid, only a good heart is enough to help the needy.

It is proved by a 17-year-old boy, Vansh Patodia, who raised funds with the help of his family, friends, and relatives in a week. From Oxygen cylinders, medicines to smartphones for those who are not able to arrange one for online classes, Vansh has helped everybody. He was just a call away.

Vansh is a student of the Centre Point School. When asked, he said, “I am simply happy to help.”

He further said, “My mother volunteers with an NGO that’s been doing a lot of groundwork during Covid-19, and I felt even I should do something.”

“My mother’s NGO was the source which told me that many students are not able to study during the corona pandemic because of the lack of smartphones/ tablets. So I started a fundraiser”, he said.

He was later followed by his friends and relatives. Vansh said that the biggest challenge is to convince people that their money would be used for a social cause. He said, “The biggest challenge is convincing people that their money will be used properly. People want to donate, but have a genuine concern that how the money will be utilized.”

All thanks to Vansh’s convincing skills as he ended up collecting Rs 1.56 lakh, the amount was way more than needed for the original purpose.

Vansh said, “I donated some of it to the Rotary Club and some part was used to send medicines to orphanages and old age homes. But even after that, I had left and was looking for another good cause to donate it.”

That was the time when Vansh came into contact with Khushroo Poacha, who was looking for an oxygen concentrator.

When Khushroo Poacha was finding oxygen concentrators to fulfill the demand of a needy, he was surprised when the phone was received by a young boy, Vansh. After listening to the need Vansh replied that he would be happy to help. The next day, a brand new good quality oxygen concentrator was delivered to Poacha by Vansh.

Poacha, Nagpur Heroes Awardee, who is popular for his philanthropy said that “It is amazing that young people like Vansh are sensitive for a social cause and are coming forward to help the people during this time of crisis. It’s the passion to help others in this generation which gives me hope for a better world in the future.”

The entire collection has been used and for now, Vansh does not have any further plan to restart.
