Hardik Pandya 'super-excited' to lead Ahmedabad franchise in IPL 2022; shares message for fans

'Captain' Hardik Pandya has a special message for his fans and management after his induction into the Ahmedabad franchise as its skipper for the IPL 2022 ahead of mega-auction

Ahead of the upcoming IPL 2022 mega-auction, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been drafted into the Ahmedabad franchise along with two other players and is all set to lead the new team into the tournament. Ahmedabad franchise on Friday announced the name of three players that they have picked before heading into the IPL 2022 mega-auction slated to take place in February. 

Apart from Hardik Pandya, the Ahmedabad franchise has picked  Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill for the IPL 2022 season. The drafting of the star all-rounder into the Ahmedabad franchise for the IPL 2022 has ended his stint with the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. After the announcement, Star Sports shared a video message of Hardik for his fans on joining the new franchise as a captain. 

In the video shared by Star Sports on itsTwitter handle, Hardik says, "Hello Ahmedabad, super-excited to start this new journey in the new IPL team Ahmedabad. Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the owners, management for putting their faith in me as a captain of this team. It's a new era for us and I am excited what lies ahead. Well I promise this team will always fight and give their all. A big welcome to Rashid and Shubman as well who I know extremely well and will bring a lot to our table. See you soon."

Ahmedabad franchise and their new players for IPL 2022


The Ahmedabad franchise has signed ace all-arounder Hardik Pandya and T20 specialist leg-spinner Rashid Khan for Rs 15 crore. On the other hand, it has also banked upon Team India's young sensation Shubam Gill and has signed him for Rs 7 crore. This will be the first time that Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan will be playing in the same team. Hardik Pandya during his seven-season stay at Mumbai Indians scored 1476 runs at a strike rate of 153.91 and also picked 42 wickets at a strike rate of 20.69.

Afghanistan's leg-spinner Rashid Khan who previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad featured for the Orange Army in 76 matches and picked up 93 wickets at an economy rate of 6.33. Shubman Gill on the other hand was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team representing them in 58 matches and scoring 1417 runs at 31.48 with 10 half-century scores.
