The Ranchi police have nabbed the wife of a retired IAS officer and suspended BJP leader Seema Patra over the case of rigorous mental and physical abuse of her maid.
As soon as the matter came to light Patra was making attempts to flee but to no avail, as the Argoda police arrested her after over two days of the hunt. She will be presented before the court today.

A 29-year-old physically disabled tribal lady was brought into the home by retired IAS Maheshwar Patra’s wife for house help but was kept in the house for over 8 years.
In the due course of time, the maid named Sunita faced several forms of abuse. While being admitted to RIMS in Ranchi Sunita went on to describe what sort of cruelty she faced Sunita went on to say she was beaten up with rods, they tortured her by touching a hot griddle with her body.
Police had arrested Seema Patra who is denying all sorts of claims made against her and said it is not true and was pushed into the trap of narratives.
Jharkhand governor Ramesh Bains has taken cognizance of the matter and has expressed the disappointment and manner in how things have unfolded.
Marking the sensitivity and grave nature of the case he asked the DG of the Jharkhand police why the police has not taken any action yet on the matter.
Sunita while describing the matter alleged she wanted to stop working at Patra’s home but she was forcefully kept at their house for 8 years.
She said they used to badly thrash her whenever she asked about going home, the accused didn’t even provide her any medical assistance whenever she asked after falling ill.

Sunita’s rescue from Patra’s home was no less than any dramatic note of Hindi film, she somehow informed a government employee Vivek Anand by sending him a text message detailing all forms of issues she faced.
Soon after getting the information, a case was filed in the matter and Ranchi police jumped into action to rescue Sunita.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sunita was made the part of convening team in BJP’s much acclaimed ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign and his husband has served as the secretary in the Disaster Management department.
Seema Patra is currently charged under multiple provisions of the SC-ST act besides being lodged under multiple sections of the IPC in Ranchi’s Argoda police station. DSP, Hatia has been appointed as the investigating officer in the case.
Police are now waiting for the medical department’s clean chit to declare Sunita fit so that the investigation in the matter can be initiated afterward, besides deploying two police personnel in her security,
