Earlier this month, Police found 500 oxygen concentrators from his three restaurants in and near the upscale Khan Market Complex – Khan Chacha, Nege and Ju, and Town Hall. After this police have been searching him. There was medical equipment that can generate high-concentrated medical oxygen, which was high in demand in the national capital due to the scarcity of oxygen in the hospitals.

Last week Mr Kalra approached the Delhi High Court and asked for protection from arrest. However, the court canceled the request and said that the allegations against him were serious therefore, custodial interrogation was required.

The court further said that his mobile phone has chats and call history which is evidence that he was involved in illegal oxygen marketing due to which his mobile phone needed to be seized. The court also suspected that there is a possibility that Navneet Kalra has been tampering with evidence and witnesses.

The public prosecutor in the black marketing case had alleged that the oxygen concentrator Mr Kalra was selling was not suited for the Covid treatment as they only generate 20.8 percent pure oxygen. Mr Kalra has been arrested under charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy.

Five others – four employees of Matrix Cellular Company, with its CEO and Vice President, and one employee of Town Hall were also arrested in the same scam but for now, they all are out on bail.
