Senior Akali leader Bikram Majithia has accepted the challenge of Punjab Congress President Navjot Sidhu. He will now contest elections only from the constituency of Amritsar East. Bikram Majithia's wife Gani Majithia has filed her nomination papers on Monday after his husband left the Majithia constituency.
Majithia's wife filed her nomination papers by appearing before the Tehsildar of Majitha. She appeared before Tehsildar along with Majithia's personal assistant Major Shivi. Although Majithia had filed his nomination papers from the Majitha assembly constituency three days ago, which he has not yet withdrawn, in which Gani Majithia will be her husband's covering candidate.
On the other hand, after Majithia's wife filed nomination, Satinderpal Kaur, wife of Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lali, said that if Gani Majithia contests the election, then she must face all those mothers, whose sons got killed by the drugs menace. Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate from Amritsar East assembly seat, Bikram Singh Majithia, on Sunday, takes on Navjot Singh Sidhu's challenge to contest from the Amritsar east.
