US commercial cargo spacecraft Dragon finished its forth resupply mission at the International Space Station (ISS) making a successful splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, reported US private space company SpaceX, which operates the spacecraft.

Earlier in the day, Dragon undocked from the ISS after an over month-long stay and started descending toward the Earth. According to NASA, the spacecraft was expected to make its first ever splashdown at night.

"Good splashdown of Dragon confirmed, completing SpaceX's fourth resupply mission to and from the @Space_Station with a flight-proven spacecraft," the company wrote on Twitter.

The reusable spacecraft should have undocked from the ISS earlier this week, but its ??return was delayed because of adverse weather conditions in the area of its planned splashdown. The spacecraft delivers cargo and supplies to the space station under a Commercial Resupply Service contract, awarded to SpaceX by NASA, while also bringing back materials of scientific experiments.
