Latin newcomer Rosalia has been signed by the Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) for a worldwide publishing deal. In a press release announcing the deal, UMPG praised Rosalía as “Latin Music breakout artist of the year and a fast-rising global crossover success.” She is known for fusing classic flamenco music with modern trap and R&B beats.

Hailing from Barcelona, Rosalía has released two studio albums: 2017 Los ángeles and last year El mal querer. The latter album received rave reviews from critics and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. In 2018, she received a total of five Latin Grammy nominations and won two, for best urban fusion/performance and best alternative song.

As per Rosalía: “I want to thank Jody for believing and trusting me, as a composer it is an honor to have signed with Universal Music Publishing. I feel very happy to be part of this house that has so many artists that I admire and in this new stage in my career, I will give the best of me.”

In April, she launched her first headlining North American tour, which included a performance at Coachella. Rosalía will perform at European festivals throughout the summer, returning to the U.S. for Lollapalooza in August.

“My family always asks me, ‘Rosalía, when are you going to stop?’” she told Billboard in a recent interview. “And I say, ‘I’m never going to stop. I’m going to just keep recording and enjoying this moment.”
