Uttarkhand CM Trivendra Rawat shifted to New Delhi’s AIIMS over Covid-19 complication

The Chief Minister had tested positive for COVID-19 on December 18 after which he was under home isolation.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat who was admitted to the Government Doon Medical College in Dehradun after developing a fever has been shifted to New Delhi’s AIIMS college principal Dr Ashutosh Rana said on Monday. 

The 68-year-old minister had tested positive for novel coronavirus on December 18 and was under home isolation. His wife and daughter, too, had tested positive for coronavirus.

According to his physician Dr NS Bisht a chest infection had been detected in his chest. Following consultation with and on the advice of doctors at Delhi's AIIMS, the Chief Minister was shifted there for further examination and testing.

The Chief Minister is under observations by a team of doctors, officials said.

CM Rawat had isolated himself multiple times earlier this year after a number of his administrative and ministerial colleagues tested positive for the Covid-19 at various points of time like in September, his Officer on Special Duty (OSD) had tested positive for Covid-19. Earlier on August 26, he had gone into home isolated after three of his staffers tested positive for Covid-19. On June 1 too, Rawat and two of his cabinet ministers had decided to quarantine themselves after cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj tested positive for the virus.

CM Rawat on December 18 tweeted about him getting infected by coronavirus: "Today I had my corona test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine and I do not have any symptoms. Therefore, on the advice of doctors, I will be in-home isolation. I request everyone, whoever has come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get yourself checked."
