Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm today, announced the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) via tweet. PM’s address comes at a time when several states have begin the unlock process. “Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi will address the nation at 5 pm today, 7th June,” read the tweet by CMO.
Currently, India is witnessing a downward trend in the country. With the dip in coronavirus cases, states are expecting to curb lockdown restrictions. Following this, Prime Minister will highlight the need to follow Covid's appropriate behavior in todays’ address.
According to reports, PM Modi will also speak of the government's strategy for vaccination which has been continuously criticized by states. Supreme Court too had shown skepticism on the government's policy and asked the Centre to provide a clear plan.
Earlier, the topmost court had called the Centre’s liberalized vaccination policy ‘arbitrary and irrational. The policy suggested free vaccines for people who are 45 and above and paid doses for people in the age group 18-44.

Other issues in policy like shortage of vaccines, problem to reach to rural India, vaccine hesitancy and different procuring price of vaccine for Center and states were also flagged by the Supreme Court.
It is expected that Prime Minister Modi will address all these issues in his address to the nation.
Prime Minister has addressed the nation several times since the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic. Modi has been constantly seen offering suggestions to people and outlining measures the government has taken in the battle against coronavirus infection.
Last time, PM addressed the nation on 20 April when the second wave of coronavirus was at its peak. In his address, PM had asked states to use lockdown as the last option to break the chain of Covid spread. Besides, he had mentioned the steps taken by the government to resolve oxygen scarcity.
