As the sacred festival of Karva Chauth approaches on Friday, October 10, 2025, millions of women across India are preparing to observe the traditional fast that celebrates love, devotion, and marital harmony. But this year, the night sky adds a deeper dimension — a rare and powerful cosmic alignment that astrologers say will magnify the spiritual and emotional significance of the occasion.
Renowned astrologer Dr Gurdeep Ahluwalia, Ph.D. (Gold Medalist), Gemologist, Author, and Founder of AstroPeek.com, from Chandigarh, calls Karva Chauth 2025 “a celestial celebration where devotion meets the divine.” He explained that this year’s planetary positions beautifully mirror the spirit of the festival — love strengthened through faith, sacrifice, and cosmic balance.
“The Moon rises in Taurus (Vrishabha Rashi), its exalted sign, under Krittika Nakshatra, ruled by Agni — the Fire God,” Dr Ahluwalia said. “This means emotions will be grounded, stable, and purified. The fire element burns away negativity, leaving behind clarity, peace, and renewed strength in relationships.”
For Chandigarh moonrise is expected at 8:08PM, and for Jalandhar and surrounding regions, the moonrise is expected at 8:13 PM, marking the much-awaited moment when women end their fast by viewing the moon through a sieve. “This exalted Moon enhances serenity, patience, and emotional steadiness — qualities that define the essence of Karva Chauth,” he said.
Adding to the celestial charm, a Sun–Venus conjunction in Virgo (Kanya Rashi) will influence the energy of love and devotion. “When Venus — the planet of affection — meets the Sun — the planet of vitality and purpose — in Virgo, it brings humility and purity into love,” Dr Ahluwalia noted. “This combination reflects the true spirit of Karva Chauth: devotion that is selfless, gentle, and enduring.”
Meanwhile, Jupiter’s placement in Gemini (Mithun Rashi) is expected to bless relationships with deeper understanding and wisdom. “Jupiter in Gemini promotes open communication and emotional clarity,” he said. “It allows couples to connect not only through prayer but also through meaningful conversation and mutual respect.”
Every ritual performed during the day, Dr Ahluwalia explained, holds astrological meaning. The pre-dawn Sargi represents nourishment and Venusian grace. The day-long nirjala fast (without food or water) channels Krittika’s purifying fire, while the evening puja reflects lunar devotion. “When women offer Arghya (water) to the Moon, they are symbolically calming the mind and restoring harmony,” he said.
He added that this year’s Karva Chauth is especially auspicious for women with Manglik Dosha or marital strain. “The current planetary harmony neutralizes Mars’s fiery nature, creating balance and protection in relationships,” he said.
