The movie will be released in theaters on February 27, 2026.

Is The Kerala Story 2 inspired by true story?

Going by the makers, the answer is yes. Unlike its previous part that was based on a single real life case, The Kerala Story 2 is based on multiple true stories. It means, it is not limited one single case.

The teaser starts with all the three actresses delivering a monologue. The first one says she is Surekha Nair from Kerala. "I wanted to prepare for UPSC and become an IAS officer."

The second one says she is "Neha Sant from Madhya Pradesh. I wanted to win gold medal for the country in Javelin Throw."

And, the third one says "Deepika Paliwal from Rajasthan and I wanted to become social media influencer. Dance is my passion."

The three women marry three Muslim men. Surekha marries Salim, Neha marries Faizan, and Divya marries Rasheed. The three are seen wearing burqas.

How they were "tricked" by these Muslim men and their "dreams shattered" after they were converted to Islam. The clip ends on a powerful note, with the three women chanting in unison, "Isiliye hume ladna hoga. Kuynki abhi nahi toh kabhi nahi. (That is why we must fight. Because if not now, then never.)"

What happened in The Kerala Story part 1?

The movie was released in theaters in 2023. Thereafter, it was released on Zee5 in February 2024.

The movie was accused of driving an agenda against a particular religion. However, the makers had stated that The Kerala Story is a true story. For the unversed, when the trailer was released, the makers called The Kerala Story based on a true story of 32,000 women who were forcefully converted and were later sent to Islamic countries like Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan as ISIS recruits.

However, after uproar on social media, among political parties and even many lawsuits, the makers amended their statement and stated that The Kerala Story is a real story of 3 women (Shalini Unnikrishnan) with Bollywood actress Adah Sharma portraying the character of Nimisha AKA Fathima Isa.

Nimisha AKA Fathima Isa, was one of the four women from Kerala who fled to Afghanistan, between 2016 and 2018, to join the terror outfit ISIS and wage war against the US forces in ISIS-controlled Khorasan Province. The three others who were identified as fleeing from India along with Nimisha were Sonia Sebastian alias Ayisha, Merrin Jacob alias Mariyam and Raffaela. They were given the term 'ISIS Bride'.
