India’s largest vaccine manufacturer, Serum Institute ofIndia (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla on Saturday shared good news for the travelersover the Covishield vaccine acceptance.
As France accepts Covishield, the Indian version of Oxford-Astrazenecavaccine, CEO Poonawalla took to his micro-blogging site to share the good newsfor travelers concerned to visit the European nations as the 16 nations havenow recognized Covishield for entry of international travelers.
“It is indeed good news for travelers, as we see sixteenEuropean countries recognizing COVISHIELD as an acceptable vaccine for entry.However despite being vaccinated, entry guidelines might vary from country tocountry, so do read up before you travel,” Poonawalla wrote.
It is to be reiterated here, the Indian govt has beenpushing up European Union member countries to recognize both Covishield andCovaxin. The GoI has even made it clear that if the nations won’t agree then travelers from those countries, who had received jab of EU-recognisedvaccines, will not be exempt from quarantine in India.
So finally here are the 16 countries including Austria,Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia,the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and France thatrecognized Covishield vaccine for international travelers. Pertinently, ofthese countries, 13 are European Union members.
Notably, this recognition paves the way for the Indians,who had taken Covishield jab, to travel to these European countries, once theygradually lift their travel restrictions. However, some countries may alsorequire negative RT/PCR test reports as the entry requirement will vary fromcountry to country.
