Assembly Election-2022: Draft electoral rolls for Ludhiana Published, total electors 26,101,21

DC Varinder Kumar Sharma exhorts young voters to actively take part in the entire election procedure

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral OfficerVarinder Kumar Sharma on Monday announced the publication of draft electoralrolls of Ludhiana according to which the total number of voters in the districtis 2610121 of which 1395249 men 1214751 women and 121 third genders.

Presiding over a meeting with the officials andrepresentatives of various political parties in his office, Deputy CommissionerVarinder Kumar Sharma said that special summary revision of electoral rolls ofall the 14 assembly constituencies Khanna, Samrala, Sahnewal, Ludhiana East,Ludhiana West, Ludhiana South, Ludhiana North, Ludhiana Central, Atam Nagar,Gill, Payal, Raikot, Dakha and Jagraon in Ludhiana is being done with referenceto January 1, 2022 as the qualifying date.

While handing over lists of draft electoral rolls and CDcontaining soft copy of rolls to the representatives of political parties,Sharma said that to facilitate people, the draft electoral rolls have been madeavailable with all booth level officers (BLOs) where people can check the rollsand ensure that voters’ lists are accurate. He said that claims and objectionscan be filed till November 30, 2021 and all claims and objection would bedisposed of till November 20, 2021.

He said that if name of any eligible voter has not beenincluded in the draft list, then he or she can contact the concerned BLO orvisit special camps at all booths on November 6, 7, 20 and 21 and finalpublication of electoral rolls would take place on January 5, 2022.

The Deputy Commissioner said that to facilitate theyouth, the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter ServicesPortal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App. He said that the youth have to click thelink www.nvsp.in for getting them registered as new voters.  Likewise, Sharma said that the youth can alsodownload Voter Helpline App from Google Play store in their android phone forenrolling them as voters.

Prominent among present on the occasion includedAdditional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rahul Chaba, Election Tehsildar Anju Balaand representatives of various political parties.
