As 2025 begins, two of the most celebrated festivals in India, Holi and Eid are set to bring along bank holidays in various states, giving people a much-needed festive break. Since both festivals falling close to weekends in some regions, many employees and students can plan mini vacations or family gatherings.
Holi, the festival of colors, one of the most widely enjoyed summer festival of India. This year Holi will be celebrated on March 14, 2025 (Thursday) in most parts of India. Banks will remain closed on this day in states where Holi is celebrated as a public holiday. Moreover, in some regions, March 15 (Friday) is also a holiday for Holika Dahan, allowing people to enjoy a long weekend from March 15 to March 17 (Friday to Sunday), making it a four-day break for many.
Eid-ul-Fitr, major Muslim festival, which is marked as the end of Ramadan. It is expected to be observed on March 30, 2025 (Sunday), according to the lunar calendar. Although, this may not impact bank’s working as Sunday is already a non-working day. But in some regions, banks may declare an additional holiday on Monday, March 31, to allow people to celebrate the festival with ease.
