Outrightly rejecting any sort of Delhi Model, PunjabChief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today said state is witnessing ChanniModel which stands for equal opportunities for all.
Addressing a gathering during a function to unveil the statueof Maharaja Agarsen here at old grain market, the Chief Minister said that thismodel is in unison with the teachings of the Great Sikh Gurus who have shown usthe way of equality and brotherhood. He said that this model is beingimplemented in the state for progress of state and prosperity of its peopleadding that this model will be there till he is in this office. CM Channi saidthat this model aims at well being of the people and holistic growth of thestate.
The Chief Minister said that this model does not allowany one person or family to plunder the resources of state. However, he saidthat Channi model is based on giving equal access to all for resources andopportunities in the state. CM Channi asked the people to support this model sothat pristine glory of the state can be restored again.
Training his guns against AAP supremo, the Chief Ministersaid that the Delhi Model of Arvind Kejriwal is nothing more than a ‘bundle oflies’. He said that the Punjab governing has already taken several pathbreaking initiatives to benefit the masses whereas Kejriwal and his company arejust making promises for them. CM Channi said that I can never be duplicateKejriwal as I can’t be treacherous and cunning as he is.
Quipping on those who question about the financialcondition of state, the Chief Minister said that state government is committedfor well being of state and its people adding that there is no dearth of fundsfor it. He said that these funds are of the people and will be utilised forpeople by the government of the people. CM Channi said that he is plugging theloopholes in functioning of government and the money currently being usurped bythe middlemen will be used judiciously for well being of general public.
The Chief Minister said that the open loot of public bythe Cable operator under patronisation of Badal family will be stopped by allmeans. He said that this looting of Tax payer’s money will not be tolerated atany cost. CM Channi said that exorbitant rates being charged by Cable operatorswill have to go by all means.
Recalling his long association with the Aggarwalcommunity, the Chief Minister said that his childhood friend also hails fromthe same community. He hailed the community as the most patriotic community inthe country. CM Channi also lauded role of community in social economic growthof the country as well as the state.
The Chief Minister said that his government had alreadyscrapped 40,000 pending cases of VAT, out of total 48,000 cases related toFinancial Year 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, against traders and industrialistsacross the state. He said that, likewise, several other initiatives have beentaken to safeguard interests of the traders. CM Channi also announced toconstitute Traders welfare board (Wapaar Kalyan board) in the state.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also announced to renameChowk in old grain market on name of Maharaja Agarsen. He also announced agrant of RS 2 crore for already existing chair on name of Maharaja Agarsen atPunjabi university.
In his address, MLA Dr Harjot Kamal said that enthusiasmis being witnessed amongst the masses ever since CM Channi has assumed thecharge of office. He thanked CM Channi for sparing his valuable time to unveilthe statue of Maharaja Agarsen ji here today. Dr Kamal also lauded CM Channifor taking several pro-people initiatives for well being of people.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also dedicated statue oflegendary warrior Jassa Singh Ramgarhia to masses on Kotakpura bye-pass.
On the occasion, Lok Sabha Member Mohammed Sadiq, MLA DrHarjot Kanwal and Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh, former Minister Dr Malti Thapar andothers were also present.
