
Asserting that Badal family had ruthlessly plundered thestate, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi today said that Badals willhave to pay for their sins against the state and its people.
Addressing a gathering here at local grain market, theChief Minister, accompanied by President of Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu,said that Badals had a hand in each and every misdeed against Punjab. He saidthat cable mafia, drug mafia, sand mafia, transport mafia and others, allthrived under the misrule of Badals adding that this mafia looted the wealth ofPunjab. CM Channi said that the patronage of Badals to all these mafias ruinedthe state but now they have to pay back for their sins adding that the day isnot too far.
The Chief Minister said that now when they have startedcrack down on mafia patronised by Badals they are running pillar to post forsaving them. However, he said that the sins of Badals are unpardonable and theywill be made accountable for their acts of omission and commission. CM Channisaid that ED action against cable mafia owned by Badals is a welcome but adelayed decision.
The Chief Minister while making a scathing attack onDelhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that this ‘rumour monger’ politicianhas a desire to rule Punjab due to which he is bent upon to mislead Punjabis.He unequivocally said that Kejriwal and company must remember one thing thathistory is witness to the fact that Punjabis love their land and people addingthat neither they had ever allowed nor they will permit any outsider in futureto rule their state. CM Channi said that Delhi model is non-existent whereasPunjab model of Congress is delivering its best to people.
While quipping on Kejriwal, the Chief Minister said thathe is not even aware of the basic topography to state. Throwing a challenge toDelhi Chief Minister, he asked him to differentiate between ‘Gulli Danda’ and‘Bandar Killa’ the two traditional games of state. CM Channi categorically saidthat dream of Kejriwal and company to loot Punjab will never realise.
The Chief Minister, while striking an emotional chordwith the people, said that he hails from a common family so he understandstheir problem well. He said that every step of his government aims at wellbeing of the common man. CM Channi said that government is of the common man,for the common man and by common man.
The Chief Minister reiterated that an elite and unholynexus of politicians across party line had excluded power from common man justto loot Punjab. He said that the members of this elite group have a common bondin form of their own vested interests and loot of the state adding that theyhave been ill fully doing this so by enjoying the fruits of power in game ofmusical chairs where the ruler changes after every five years but power remainsin their hands. However, CM Channi said that now this nexus has been broken andthe power is with the common man.
The CM Channi said that he was fortunate that Congressleadership has bestowed him this service to serve the state. He said that I amworking to resolve the issues that are faced by every common man of the state.Listing the several pro-people initiatives taken by his government, he saidthat Power bill arrears worth Rs. 1500 crore have been waived, Power rates fordomestic consumers have been reduced by Rs. 3 per unit, Bills to the tune ofRs. 1200 crore have been waived off in respect of motors in rural areas, watercharges brought down to Rs. 50, Rates for sand have been reduced to Rs. 5.50per cubic feet and Punjab Government is bearing Rs. 35 as part of cost sharingout of increased Rs. 50 of Sugarcane prices while the private mills now onlyhave to bear Rs. 15. CM Channi said that not only this but several other pathbreaking decisions will be taken in coming days too.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced setting up of anursing college in Baghapurana along with constructing a stadium on name ofShaheed Bhagat Singh. He also announced upgrading two existing hospitals inBaghapurana along with grants for Guru Nanak College and Sports Academy. CMalso announced to accord Sub Tehsil status to Smadh Bhai.
Welcoming CM Channi and Sidhu, MLA from BaghapuranaDarshan Singh Brar said that he had no words for thanking the leaders forcoming to this constituency. He said that with both these leaders at helms ofaffairs the prestige of workers has been restored. Brar also thanked the ChiefMinister for showering grants to his segment.
Meanwhile, AAP MLA from Raikot Jagtar Singh Jagga joinedthe Congress party while saying good bye to Aam Aadmi Party. Both CM Channi andSidhu welcomed him into party fold.
