Women protesting against alleged embezzlement in thePunjab Police constable recruitment exam were beaten up pitilessly by policemenat PAP in Jalandhar on Saturday afternoon.
It’s been two days today and nearly 40-odd aspirants forthe post of constable from Jalandhar and other cities of Punjab have beenprotesting on the GT Road.
The protesters first blocked the BSF Chowk on Thursdayand then shifted to PAP flyover on Friday. Owing to the protest staged byaspirants, roads to Jalandhar bus stand, PAP and Rama Mandi are still packedwith vehicles. Police have been deployed at the scene of the protest.
On the third day of the protest today, the aspirantsstaged ‘dharna’ outside the main PAP gate and there were reports of scufflebetween police and protesters. Also, videos from the scene are going viralin which policemen could be seen beating up women protesters.

Talking to TrueScoop, the aspirants alleged anomalies inthe recruitment process and raised questions over the shortlisted candidatesfor the next stage of the recruitment process.
They said on Friday they met ADGP-cum-Chairman of thePunjab Police Recruitment Board Gurpreet Deo who tried to pacify them, but theyare not convinced by his assurances and want an inquiry by a three-membercommittee of civil services officials to look into their allegations.
The candidates further said if their demands were notmet, they would not call off their protest anytime soon.
