O/O District Public Relations Officer, Jalandhar, December29- To make Nikku Park more attractive and boost footfall especially ofchildren here, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday announced to giveRs 5 lakh for the complete facelift of the Nikku Park to the high-poweredcommittee.
The Deputy Commissioner, who visited the park in Model Townon Monday evening, said that the park is a valuable asset for the city and itspeople. He said that it is a favourite place for children because a variety ofswings, slides and others are offered free and electronically operated ridesbeing given on a package of three rides for just Rs 35.
Thori asked the committee members to hold its meetingregularly to ensure the park is maintained properly so that the people continueto get benefit from this park without any sort of inconvenience to them.

Committee’s head MC Joint Commissioner Harcharan Singh toldDeputy Commissioner that some electronic rides need immediate repair andmaintenance following which the latter said that a grant of Rs 5 lakh would begiven to the committee from CSR funds which would be utilized for these worksso that children can enjoy all the rides uninterruptedly.
Singh further informed the Deputy Commissioner that due toCovid-19 pandemic, the park remained shut for a long time which has hit itsfunctioning badly. Further, he said that there is a need for additionalmanpower for the upkeep of the park.
On which, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that aTehsildar level officer would visit the Park regularly and would furtherexplore possibilities of boosting the footfall here.
