Despite city on high alert owing to Independence Day,some unknown persons brutally murdered the son of an ASI on Saturday night nearJalandhar Cantt Railway station, while his friend was critically injured.
ASI’s son identified as Sarabjit Singh was attacked by agroup of men and reportedly died on the spot whereas his friend, who was withhim, was injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
As per the information, ASI's son, who was posted at PAPJalandhar, Sarabjit Singh and his friend were going somewhere and were standingoutside Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station. At that time, he got into an argumentwith some men and in some time argument converted into a scuffle.
During this fight, the group attacked him and his friendwith a knife and other sharp objects. Sarabjit was attacked mercilessly and hedied on the spot. His friend was badly injured and was hospitalized in a nearbyprivate hospital. Currently, he is in critical condition and treatment is on.

Police reached the spot and now the investigation isunderway. Different police teams have been carrying out searches to nab themiscreants.
