
An Assistant SubInspector (ASI) of Patiala Police was injured when a car driver reportedlytried to run over him on Saturday afternoon.
He had stopped a carfor checking, but the driver fled the scene after hitting the ASI. The policeofficer reportedly received a fracture in his leg.
Hemant Sharma, DeputySuperintendent of Police, said, “We have traced the car, and driver will besoon arrested. The ASI has received a fracture in his right leg and is undertreatment in a private hospital.”
“The driver of thecar was playing loud music. I stopped the car for checking. However, the driverof the car tried to ran over me when I tried to stop him,” said ASI SubaSingh.
In view ofIndependence Day, strict checking of vehicles is being done in thestate. Strict vigil has also been kept on all major cities, squares androads of Punjab. The police is keeping a close watch on all the sensitiveplaces. Every passing vehicle is being checked to avoid any possibility ofany untoward incident. Police have been alerted in all districts.
Patiala Police havebooked two persons for rash driving and using fancy letters on number plates.Police said that they had already arrested one person while the other was onthe run. The accused have been identified as Jobanpreet Singh and Pyara Singh.The police disclosed that they (police) had erected a Naka near CivilLines roundabout.
