The online training course for school principals, schoolheads and lecturers on “School Management” has started today. School educationsecretary, Mr. Krishan Kumar said that this course will make a significantcontribution in school management and will enhance the knowledge of schoolprincipals, school heads and lecturers.
He said that the Punjab government has made great stridesin the field of school education in recent times, due to this Punjab hassecured the first position in the field of education in the country.
He said that much is needed to be done to retain thefirst position in education for which he was making continuous efforts. Heappealed to the school administrators to take advantage of such courses andbring further improvement in the field of education.
The e-Learning module on Leadership and Motivation,conceived and developed by Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School ofBusiness in collaboration with the Department of School Education, Punjab, totrain principals, heads and lecturers of the Government Schools, is started byenrolling the first batch of 500+ educationists today.
The course will be available via a user-friendly Learningmanagement System (LMS) interface containing 12 asynchronous modules under thetopic “Leadership and Motivation for Effective School Management”. This coursewas officially launched by Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla in avirtual event on July 16.
An hour-long online session has been started for thefirst batch of participants to orient them towards the course’s design andstructure, and walk them through the LMS interface.
The training will include live virtual introductorysessions for each batch to make participants aware of course expectations andtechnical nuances and ensuring them a seamless experience during the one-month,self-paced asynchronous course.
The number of participants will be increased up to 2,000every month, in the subsequent batches,” said Dr Aarushi Jain, CourseCoordinator, Bharti Institute of Public Policy and Indian School of Business.The Learning Management System will be available for access to more than 10,000principals, heads and teachers of the state Department of School Education, inthe first phase.
The course ‘Learning and Motivation for Effective SchoolManagement’ aims to help the participants to inculcate effective educationaland adaptive leadership qualities and apprise them of their critical role asinformed motivators and communicators.
The modules will also highlight the importance ofconcepts like team building, group dynamics, and change management whilereflecting on one’s personality, strengths, and weaknesses; and improveinterpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence.
The course modules have been curated by experts in thefield of management, emotional intelligence, motivation & team building,communication, and leadership. It comprises of 30 hours of content, including acombination of 12 hours of videos, reading material, presentations, andassessments.
The various components of the modules seamlesslyintegrate theoretical concepts, experimential learning, knowledge sharing, andassessment-based exercises where principals are encouraged to think about thereforms they would bring to their schools.
