Malaysia's former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday ignited another controversy after he justified the fresh terror attack in France by 'radical Muslims'. On Thursday, the French witnessed another 'terror' attack. At least three people were stabbed to death on Thursday in the French city of Nice, with the Mayor saying that the incident pointed to a "terrorist attack at the heart of the Notre-Dame basilica".
According to the police, one woman was beheaded in the attack, while the suspect was detained shortly after the attack, the BBC reported.
On this, Malaysian former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad wrote on his Twitter, "Muslims have a right to be angry and to kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past,” Mahathir wrote in one of the tweets, which was later removed from the platform for violating its rules. But by and large, the Muslims have not applied the ‘eye for an eye’ law. Muslims don’t. The French shouldn’t."
This statement by Mahathir was deleted by Twitter itself. However, by the time it was deleted his statement went viral on social media. People all around the world reacted to this including Indians. Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri asked the Indian Muslims to come out openly and criticize Islamic terrorism.
Agnihotri wrote, "It’s time for educated Indian Muslims, specially those in Indian Government jobs, to openly and assertively speak against Islamic terrorism and mad violence. They must also speak against territorial and cultural domination by illegal religious groupings and noise on loudspeaker."
