DelhiChief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is on his scheduled visit to Amritsar today andas it was being speculated, the former IPS officer Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, who was part of the SIT probing the 2015 Kotkapura police firing incident inPunjab, has joined the AAP in Delhi CM's presence.
"Punjabwants change. The only hope is the AAP. See you tomorrow at Amritsar,"Kejriwal had tweeted on Sunday hinting that AAP is planning to expand itsfootprints in the state.
AAPhas recently suffered a massive jolt after Punjab Ekta Party led by former AAPleader Sukhpal Singh Khaira joined hands with the Congress on June 17. Khairahad been a member of the Congress but he switched to the AAP before 2017 PunjabAssembly Polls.
Besides, with the elections round the corner in the state, Arvind Kejriwal does not wantto leave any stone unturned to step into the political circle of Punjab as hebelieves the state requires change from the conventional parties’ reign.
Meanwhile,Kunwar Vijay Pratap is the third police officer to try his luck in politics inthe last decade. Earlier, two former DGPs SS Virk and PS Gill have tried tochange the picture of Punjab through politics, but did not succeed.
Addressingthe media in Amritsar, Kunwar Vijay Pratap said that his only purpose ofjoining AAP is to serve the people of Punjab. He said it’s a matter of shamefor Punjab as those guilty behind sacrilege incident are dictating terms to government.
