In a shocking case from Goraya, Jalandhar, a young businessman was thrashed in public—not once but twice—allegedly by his own friends. The videos of the attacks are now all over social media, raising serious questions about public safety and police action.
Satinder Singh, who runs Sunny Transport and lives in Atta village, says he was first attacked in Ludhiana and then again outside the Goraya court, where he had gone to file a complaint. “Pehle dosti thi, ab gundagardi ban gayi hai,” he told reporters.
The accused have been identified as Jimmy and Lavish Oberoi—both known to Satinder. He claims Jimmy had earlier even fired at his vehicle and was now forcing him to withdraw the police complaint. “They’re using fear and violence to silence me,” he said.
The first attack happened while Satinder was having dinner at Palak Restaurant. “Lavish called me outside, and suddenly they started hitting me,” he recalled. Just hours later, he was again attacked near the court, in broad daylight.
If that wasn’t enough, Satinder says the attackers themselves uploaded the videos of both beatings and are now spreading them through fake social media accounts. “Lavish used to borrow my cars to shoot Instagram reels. After I refused, this is what I got,” he said.
At first, police allegedly didn’t act. But after the videos went viral and public anger flared, an FIR was registered against Jimmy and Lavish. The matter is now under investigation.
Locals are calling it a case of friendship gone horribly wrong—and a wake-up call for the police to take digital bullying and public violence more seriously.
