A massive fire broke out at a scrap godown near PPR Mallin Jalandhar here this afternoon, reducing the entire godown area that hadstocked scrap goods etc to ashes. However, no loss of life was reported in theincident.
After getting information about the fire, senior policeofficials, including the Municipal Corporation officials, reached the spot andinspected the rescue operation.
Since the godown was situated in a slum area, theincident caused panic among people living there. Eye witnesses say around twocylinders exploded in the area after catching the fire, and as Fire tenders hadnot reached the spot on time, the fire couldn’t be brought under control.
