Congress Lok Sabha MP and wife of Chief Minister CaptAmarinder Singh, Preneet Kaur has spoken out against the ongoing turmoil in theparty. She accused PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu of instigating the revoltagainst Capt Amarinder.
Preneet Kaur’s statement comes a day after state CabinetMinisters Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, SukhjinderSingh Randhawa and Charanjit Singh Channi along with more than 20 MLAs held ameeting raising a banner of revolt. Meanwhile, four Punjab ministers met HarishRawat, the AICC Punjab in charge, to air their issues against Singh and demandhis removal.
Kaur, today speaking at a press conference in Amritsarsaid, "Please ask them (opposing MLAs) whether they have been satisfiedfor the past four and a half years. This is not the time to say things likethat. To ensure that the party comes back in power, they should provideconstructive advice and play a positive role. This is causing the party tosuffer. They should take note of the CM's maturity and open-heartedness."
Kaur stated bluntly that the Punjab Chief Minister willnot be changed by anyone's advice. With Kaur’s statement, Capt’s camp made itclear that if situation worsens, they will not remain silent.
Meanwhile, she urged the party leadership to take actionagainst Sidhu’s advisors Malvinder Singh Mali and Pyare Lal Garg. "I don'tknow where the advisors have come from. He should have chosen the advisors whoare from the party. They said the wrong things,” said MP Preneet.
She advised the Sidhu camp to fall into line, recallingAmarinder Singh's dignified acceptance of Congress president Sonia Gandhi'sdecision to select Navjot Sidhu as party's state unit president.
In response to the demand that her husband be removedfrom his position as Punjab Chief Minister, the Patiala MP stated, "It isup to the high command to decide. The CM has done his best. He has taken hisparty to numerous victories. He has carried out the orders of the high command.He fought and defeated Jaitley".
She emphasised that despite the COVID-19 pandemic andfinancial constraints, Singh had pushed Punjab forward.
Meanwhile, senior party leader Harish Rawat said thatAmarinder Singh will lead the party in the coming state elections. "Wewill contest the Punjab elections in 2022 under Captain Amarinder Singh'sleadership," said Mr Rawat.
