Despite his previous statements that sparked controversy in Punjab, PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu’s advisor Malvinder Singh Mali continues to attack Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh on social media. In a new attack against Capt Amarinder and his camp of ministers, Mali referred to CM as ‘Ali Baba' and his supporters as ‘chaalis chor' from an Arabian Nights tale.
Notably, Capt and his loyalist minister urged the party high command to take action against Mali for his recent public remarks on sensitive national issues and a ‘controversial’ sketch of Indira Gandhi which he posted on his Facebook account.
In his latest Facebook post, Mali warned the Capt’s camp saying that Navjot Sidhu will not play as a "groom" or "lead the wedding procession of Alibaba and chaalis chor."
Where Mali said that Punjab Education and PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla is one of the ‘chaalis chor’, he also targeted former Union minister and Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari
by calling him ‘bhagoda’ of Ludhiana.
Mali has accused Singla of 'openly looting' the Public Works Department and other government departments. He's also accused him of taking money from the Panchayat and stashing it.
Despite Mali's claim that his fight is not against an individual but against the policy, he continues to make personal attacks against Amarinder Singh and his supporters. On the other hand, Manish Tewari on Tuesday stated that Sidhu's advisors had no place in the Congress because they were following Islamabad's lead.
"I urge Harish Rawat to seriously consider whether those who do not consider J&K to be a part of India, as well as others with ostensibly pro-Pakistan leanings, should be members of Punjab Congress," Manish Tewari said.
Six of Amarinder Singh's supporters, including Vijay Inder Singla, pushed the Congress high command to ask Sidhu to rein in his advisors Malwinder Singh Mali and Pyare Lal Garg in the party's and country's best interests.
Earlier, on Tuesday, in a closed door meeting held at the residence of Minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa, as many as 20 MLAs and four ministers in the Amarinder Singh government, opened a revolt against Punjab CM and demanded change in leadership.
A day after the anti-Capt revolt, however, senior party leader Harish Rawat said that Amarinder Singh will lead the party in the coming state elections. "We will contest Punjab elections in 2022 under Captain Amarinder Singh's leadership," said Mr Rawat.
