PV Sindhu createdhistory by winning bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics. She became the first Indianwoman to win two Olympic medals. Sindhu defeated China's He Bing Jiao21-13,21-15 in 53 minutes to clinch her second medal, her first after thesilver medal at the Rio Olympics.
Sidhu’s father wasvery happy with her daughter’s big win and thanked coach Park Tae-Sung.
"I think she'scoming on Aug 3. I'm planning to go to Delhi. We have to get as many medals aswe can for country at Olympics. PM encouraged her & told Sindhu that we'lleat ice-cream together after returning from Tokyo. Now, she'll eat ice-creamwith PM," said PV Ramana, Sindhu's father.
"We are veryhappy. She won two medals, a silver at Rio Olympics and a bronze in Tokyo. Wewill definitely celebrate. She was a little upset yesterday. We simply askedher to relax and play well," said her mother P Vijaya.
Sindhu stated afterher win, "I'm on cloud nine. Worked hard for so many years. I think I'vedone really well. I had a lot of emotions going through me - should I be happythat I won bronze or sad that I lost the opportunity to play in thefinal?"
"My familyworked hard for me & put in a lot of effort so I'm very thankful. Indianfans showed me their love and support and I'm very thankful to each andeveryone of them. There were really long rallies but I had to be patient andcalm. Even though I was leading, I didn't relax," she added.
