Chandigarh, February 16: Punjab Small Industries and ExportCorporation (PSIEC) has decided to collaborate with Chandler Institute ofGovernance (CIG), Singapore to design and deliver the Planning, Developing, andManaging Successful Industrial Parks Program. The virtual program, which hasbeen underway and going on till 3rd March 2021, supports the enhancement ofindustrial park planning, development, and management strategies, and improvesthe ease of doing business and job creation in the State of Punjab.
Over forty officers from PSIEC’s head office and districtoffices have been attending the program held over eight sessions. Theseofficers are responsible for industrial park planning, engineering, and estateservices. The training program is designed to equip the officers with theskills and competencies required for key parts of the development cycle ofindustrial parks, including visioning, feasibility, and planning; estatemanagement; marketing and investment promotion; and inter-agency coordination.
The program is helmed by CIG’s resource expert, Mr. Lim ChinChong. Mr. Lim was formerly from JTC Corporation in Singapore, and hasextensive experience in physical infrastructure, land planning and industrialestate development.

Addressing the program participants from PSIEC during theopening ceremony, Sh. S.P. Singh, Executive Director & Sh. J.S Bhatia,Chief Engineer, PSIEC, said: “We hope these sessions would impart successfultraining and help to boost the sustainable growth of PSIEC.” Sh. S.P. Singh andMr. Wu Wei Neng, Executive Director, CIG, emphasized the importance of PSIEC’srole in Punjab’s development.
“The development of industrial parks is a core part ofeconomic development strategy for Punjab and PSIEC plays a major role in thisregard. We are committed to support the Government of Punjab in this importantwork.” Mr. Wu Wei Neng added. This inaugural virtual program collaborationbetween CIG and PSIEC falls under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) betweenthe Government of Punjab and CIG.
Terming the Punjab Small Industries & Export CorporationLimited (PSIEC) as catapult, Sh. S.P Singh & Sh. J.S Bhatia emphasized thatthe Corporation has been acting as a catalyst and springboard for all rounddevelopment and promotion of industries in Punjab through the development ofindustrial infrastructure, namely Industrial Focal Points (IFP) ranging between50 acres to 500 acres of land at various towns and cities of Punjab. Thereforeto facilitate the spirit of industry, PSIEC Ltd. provides self-sufficientindustrial focal points. These industrial hubs consist of developed plotsequipped with power substations & distribution networks, tele-communicationfacilities, residential areas for workers, common effluent treatment plants andsewage treatment plants for the clean environment.
