Punjab: May 1 (Saturday) is a holiday to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 400th birth anniversary

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of ten Gurus who founded the Sikh religion and he was head of the followers of Sikhism from 1665 until his beheading in 1675. He was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India in 1621 and was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the sixth Sikh guru.

Chandigarh, April 29: The Punjab Government has announced aholiday on May 1, 2021, on the mark of the 400th birth anniversary of Sri GuruTegh Bahadur ji. 

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson saidthat on the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, agazetted holiday was announced on Saturday, May 1, 2021, in all governmentoffices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions across the state. Anotification in this regard has been issued. 

According to the spokesperson, this holiday would also fallunder Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
