Punjabi singer Karan Aujla and Harjit Harman summoned for making offensive remarks; compares woman with ‘Sharab’

Punjab Women's Commission has issued notices to singers Harjit Harman and Karan Aujla.

While the Punjabi Music fans are busy becauseKaran Aujla’s BTFU is finally out, one of the songs from the album has raisedlegal troubles for the singer. One of the biggest artists in the Punjabi MusicIndustry, Karan Aujla has fallen into legal troubles due to his song ‘Sharab’with Harjit Harman. A case has been filed by Social Activist PanditRao, while Manisha Gulati, the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission has made acomplaint.

In their recent album, they have comparedwomen with ‘Sharab’. This thing didn’t go well with social activists Pandit Raoand Manisha Gulati. The remarks made for the woman seem to be unacceptable.

Manisha Gulati took to her Twitter and shared,“Recently, Punjabi singer Karan Aujla, Harjit Harman's song 'Sharab' has mademisleading remarks about women. We have summoned Karan Aujla, Harjit Harman andSpeed Record Company for a private hearing on September 22.”

The commission has now directed the JalandharPolice Commissioner (CP) and SSP to produce both these singers and the owner ofthe song releasing company Speed ​​Records in the next hearing.

The hearing is scheduled for 22 September andfurther updates will be given on the same date. 

Till now there had been no official statementmade by both these singers. It is often seen that there is a trend of comparingwomen with alcohol, guns and drugs in Punjabi songs. Many times this hascreated legal trouble for the singers and the company. Therefore ManishaGulati, chairperson of Punjab State Commission for Women has taken cognizanceof it.
