Dhaka: Bangladeshi actress Raima Islam Shimu, who had been missing for a few days, was discovered dead inside a sack at the Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, in a horrifying occurrence.
The corpse has been transported to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SSMCH) for autopsy, according to a senior police officer, who also claimed that an inquiry is ongoing.
She was a member of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association as an associate member.
She also worked in TV dramas and produced in addition to films.
Shimu's husband had already filed a general diary with the Kalabagan police station on Sunday, reporting his wife missing.
The police officer went on to say that it was a murder case and that they were looking into it.
Raima Islam Shimu was a well-known Bangladeshi actress who began starring in movies in 1998 with the film "Bartaman" and went on to appear in over 25 films. She also worked in TV dramas and produced in addition to films.
She was also a member of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association as an associate member.
Meanwhile, members of the Bangladeshi film industry have taken to social media to voice their dismay.
