Mahabharat’s Shri Krishna AKA Nitish Bhardawaj announces divorce with wife Smita

The duo decided to part ways after 12 years of togetherness.

TV actor Nitish Bharadwaj, best known for his role as Lord Krishna in Mahabharat, has separated from his wife of 12 years.

The two separated in September 2019. They are parents to twin daughters. Smita is an IAS officer and currently living in Indore with her two daughters.

Nitish Bhardwaj said in an interview, "Yes, I had filed for divorce in the family court in September 2019. I do not want to go into the depths as to why we both got separated. . The matter is in court at the moment. All I can say is that divorce is more painful than death, especially when you are living with emptiness."

“It’s the children who suffer the most when a family breaks down. So, the onus is on the parents to ensure that there’s minimum collateral damage that their children have to go through,” he stated further.

 On being asked about his kids, the actor has not disclosed whether he is in touch with his daughters or not. He says that he wants to keep this issue confined to himself only.


Nitish Bhardwaj started his career with BR Chopra's Mahabharat. People recognize him till date by his character of Krishna.
