Sadhu Singh Dharmsot Directs for Implementation of Promotion Roster Rules in Letter and Spirit

Mr. Dharmsot Chairs Meeting of SC/BC Teachers Delegation

Information and Public Relations Department, Punjab - Chandigarh,December 22: Punjab Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and MinoritiesSadhu Singh Dharmsot on Tuesday directed all Government departments of thestate to follow the roster register rules during promotions in letter andspirit. The instructions were issued by the Minister after his meeting withdelegation of Punjab Teachers Union.

Mr. Dharmsot said that it has been brought to his notice bythe members of the union that various departments have been ignoring employeesbelonging to the Scheduled Castes in the promotion. He directed all theDistrict Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Officers of the state tomaintain the roster register and ensure strict adherence to the reservation rulesduring promotions.

Mr. Dharmsot said that backlog should also be given priorityduring promotions so that the rights of the government employees could besafeguarded. He also directed the district officers of the department toimmediately submit the action taken report regarding the maintenence of rosterregisters of various departments of the concerned districts, to be reviewedmonthly.

Mr. Dharmsot said that in case of non-implementation ofroster register as per rules and violation of reservation rules duringpromotions, departmental strict action would be taken against the concernedofficer/employee. He also asked the members of the delegation to bring to theirnotice the cases of violation of roster register rules of various districts.

Mr. Dharmsot also assured that various other legitimatedemands raised by the delegation would be resolved soon. In this meeting SB/BCUnion State Vice President Parminder Bharti, in-charge RTI Mr. Raj KumarChouhan, Members Mr. Ravinder Singh Ravi, Mr. Kulwinder Singh and Mr. JatinderSingh were present.
