Transport Minister conducts crackdown on illegal tourist buses in Ludhiana, 40 impounded

Today is the beginning of eliminating transport mafia: Amrinder Singh Raja Warring

Following the directions of Punjab Transport MinisterAmrinder Singh Raja Warring, the local Regional Transport Authorities alongwith local police cracked the whip against the illegal operation of buses andimpounded 40 tourist illegal buses near Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Interstate BusStand.

The Minister who kick-started the cleanliness drive inthe bus terminal in the morning, reached the spot and said that this would notbe tolerated at any cost and said that those violating the rules would face themusic.

He was also accompanied by PMIDB Chairman Amarjit SinghTikka, Ludhiana Improvement Trust chairman Raman Balasubramaniam, Secretary RTANarinder Singh Dhaliwal, besides several others.

This is the beginning of the transport mafia’s end fromthe state, Warring said and added that every bus plying in the state without apermit and indulging in tax evasion would be seized. He said that thedirections have been issued to all transport authorities to start the actionagainst the illegal operation of buses in the state.

He said that a probe would be carried out and thoseofficials who would be found helping illegal transporters, would be dealt withan iron hand.

The Minister said that all the officials must dischargetheir duties without getting influenced by anyone and rein in defaulters in thetransport sector.

Till the filling of this report, the officials were stillat the site and more buses were expected to be impounded.
