Marking the final installment of the ‘Files’ trilogy following ‘The Tashkent Files’(2019) and “The Kashmir Files’(2022); the teaser of the highly anticipated third installment known as ‘The Bengal Files’ announced to release on September 5, 2025 is finally out.
The film is based on 1946 ‘Great Calcutta Killing’ and is directed and written by ‘Vivek Agnihotri’. Featuring ‘Mithun Chakraborty’, ‘Anupam Kher’, ‘Puneet Issar’ and other highly ensemble starcast, the film will be released in two parts, the first film that is ‘The Bengal Files: Right to Life' is scheduled to be released on September 5, 2025, which is Teacher’s Day.
The teaser released today showcases a chilling glimpse of the film, it starts with a striking statement of a Kashmiri Pandit saying, “Bengal is turning into Kashmir’, and concludes with another gripping and powerful line, “If Kashmir hurt you, Bengal will haunt you”, warning the viewers about watching the horrifying past of Bengal. Fans are thrilled and excited for the release of the film saying that they are going to watch the film ‘first day, first show’, while some critics claim that this film will be banned in Bengal and be a blockbuster in India, some fans also thanked Vivek Agnihotri for making this film, said “Million thanks to Vivek Agnihotri ji for this topic. We all SHOULD know about the direct action day, the atrocities on hindus, the religious conversions, torture in the past…” the fan exclaimed’ and further added that everyone should also “understand the ongoing massacre of hindus in Bengal” and need to realise the truth.
Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri officially announced the renaming of ‘The Delhi Files’ to ‘The Bengal Files’ on June 10, 2025. The announcement was made across his social media platforms, revealing the new title along with details about the teaser release and theatrical premiere. It read, “ BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The Delhi Files is now The Bengal Files. Teaser coming this Thursday, 12 June 2025 at 12 PM. In cinemas on 05 September 2025. Agnihotri cited public demand as a key factor, mentioning that after receiving numerous requests and conducting a poll where a large majority voted for the change , it became clear that ‘The Bengal Files’ would be a more accurate and resonating title for the subject matter.
