It seems like controversies and Filmfare Awards go hand-in-hand always. While fans are eagerly waiting for Filmfare Awards 2023 streaming, a new controversy erupted on Thursday when film-maker of The Kashmir Files Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri decided to boycott Filmfare Awards 2023 by penning down a long note. Notably, Agnihoitri's The Kashmir Files earned nominations in the Filmfare Awards 2023 in a whopping 7 categories, however, Agnihotri still refused to accept any kind of awards from Filmfare. Notably, Filmfare Awards 2023 is being hosted by Salman Khan and the actor during a press conference himself had expressed in front of the organizers that he does not give importance to these kinds of awards. Announcing his decision to boycott Filmfare Awards 2023, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri stated 'I politely refuse to be part of these unethical and anti-cinema awards' in his detailed note. Notably, Vivek Agnihotri is not the first Bollywood celebrity who have decided to boycott Filmfare. Over the years, there are many big Bollywood celebrities who have vented out their anger against the Filmfare awards. Therefore, below is a list of Bollywood celebrities who refused to be part of Filmfare Awards-

1)Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri

Agnihotri on Thursday shared a long note on his Instagram and 'politely' slammed Filmfare Awards. In his note Agnihotri wrote, "I learnt from media that #TheKashmirFiles is nominated in 7 categories for the 68th Filmfare Awards. But I politely refuse to be part of these unethical and anti-cinema awards. Here is why: According to Filmfare, other than the stars, nobody has a face. Nobody matters. That’s why, in the sycophant and unethical world of Filmfare, Master Directors like Sanjay Bhansali or Sooraj Barjatya have no faces. Sanjay Bhansali looks like Alia Bhatt, Sooraj like Mr. Bachchan and Annes Bazmi like Karthik Aryan. It’s not that a filmmaker’s dignity comes from Filmfare Awards but this humiliating system must end.”

"Therefore, as my protest and dissent against a corrupt, unethical and sycophant establishment of Bollywood, I have decided to not accept such awards. I refuse to be part of any oppressive and corrupt system or awards which treats writers, directors and other HODs & crew members of a film inferior to and/or as slaves to stars," added Agnihotri.

2) Kangana Ranaut

National Awards-winning actress Kangna Ranaut too had been at loggerheads with Filmfare Awards. During the 2022 FIlmfare Awards, Kangana was nominated for best actress by the Filmfare for her movie Thalaivii. Not only this, Kangana had gone to issue warning to Filmfare that she will sue them. Kangana on her social media had wrote, "I have banned unethical, corrupt and totally unfair practices like @filmfare since 2014, but since I have been getting many calls from them for attending their award function this year as they want to give me award for 'Thalaivii' (sic)" adding, "I am shocked to know that they are still nominating me. it is beneath my dignity, work ethics and value system to encourage such corrupt practices in anyway, that is why I have decided to sue@filmfare ... thanks (sic)."

3) Manoj Muntashir

National Awards-winning lyricist Manoj Muntashir is also in the list of the Bollywood celebs who boycotted Filmfare Awards. Notably, Manoj Muntashir lost his calm during the 2019 Filmfare Awards when his song Teri Mitti did not win awards for best lyrics. Notably, the awards for best lyrics was given to Apna Time Aayega of Gully Boy which even the fans sensed that there was something fishy with the Filmfare Awards. Manoj's Terri Mitti song was a patriotic song sung by B Praak in the movie Kesari and the song indeed was among the most listened to. After this, Manoj Muntashir, through his social media account, said goodbye to 'Awards' forever.'

4) Aamir Khan

Well, the tale of Aamir Khan not attending any Awards ceremony goes long in the past. For the unversed, Aamir's film 'Rangeela' was nominated for the Filmfare Award in the year 1996, but Shahrukh Khan got the award for 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', after that he stopped going to the award function.

5) Ajay Devgn

Another big actor on the list is Ajay Devgn. Ajay Devgn in his multiple interviews has stated that he does not consider these award ceremonies as trustworthy and therefore he has no interest in attending them.
