The Pentagon, which houses the headquarters of the UnitedStates Department of Defence, on Tuesday, lifted the brief lockdown induced dueto shooting at a nearby Metro station.
The information was shared by the Pentagon ForceProtection Agency (PFPA) on its micro-blogging site’s handle which read,” ThePentagon has lifted the lockdown and has reopened. Corridor 2 and the Metroentrance remain closed. Corridor 3 is open for pedestrian traffic.”
According to the reports, the shooting incident tookplace nearby a Metro bus platform which is a part of the Pentagon TransitCenter. Reports of ‘multiple injuries’ have also emerged in which a cop alsogot injured; however, the PFPA is yet to share any information on the same.
Notably, the transit facility is a few steps away fromthe Pentagon building.
US defense secretary Lloyd Austin and General MarkMilley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were not at the Pentagonwhen the incident occurred, as they were meeting president Joe Biden at theWhite House.
