Amassive search operation by Punjab Vigilance Bureau was conducted at the residenceof former DGP Punjab Sumedh Saini in Sector-20 in Chandigarh lasted for over 7hours and finally, the police team came out at 3 am with empty hands.
Twodozen police personnel including Punjab Vigilance Bureau AIG Gagan Ajit Singh,SSP Varinder Brar raided the Kothi last evening. Sources claimed that a caseunder Benami property has been registered against former DGP. If sources are tobe believed, a total of 6 people including former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini havebeen booked in this case.
Evenafter getting blanket bail in many cases, the troubles of former Punjab DGPSumedh Singh Saini do not seem to be diminishing. A case of Benami property wasregistered against Saini by the team of Punjab Vigilance Bureau at around 4 pmon Monday and four hours after the registration of the case, around 8 pm,Punjab Vigilance Bureau's AIG Gagan Ajit Singh, SSP Varinder Brar, and twodozen police personnel raided his Kothi in Sector-20, Chandigarh.
However,former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini was not found at Kothi. Despite this, the team ofPunjab Vigilance Bureau conducted a search operation in his house for overseven hours. While the officials were seen shying away from speaking anythingin this matter. Surprisingly, not only the Mohali team of the Bureau wasinvolved in this raid, but police personnel from Patiala and other areas wereinvolved.
TheKothi which former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini was reportedly purchased by Saini in2018 from a person named Neemrit for 6.5 Crores. Due to which a new case hasbeen registered. It is learnt that a team of technical experts was called andthe measurement of the kothi was done besides video graphed during the entireraid.
TheVigilance team conducted a search operation about 4 times in the basement builtinside the Kothi during the search operation. Sources claimed that the teamsuspected that some important papers were also kept in the middle of the itemskept inside the basement. However, the team does not have any specificdocuments in hand.
Sourcessaid it seems Saini had already received the information about the VigilanceBureau team reaching the Kothi following which he left immediately.
