Two girls mercilessly beaten by family members in MP for chatting to male cousins on phone

In the video, several people, including a woman could be seen dragging girls by hair and hitting them with sticks.

In a horrific incident, two sisters from a tribal community were brutally thrashed by family members for talking to their maternal uncle’s sons on the phone. The incident took placein the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.

Reportedly, the incident occurred last month and came to light only after the video of the assault went viral on social media. So far, seven people are arrested in connection with the case.

Several people, including a woman, could be seen dragging girls by hair and hitting them with sticks in the viral video. The video was shot by bystanders. It shows girls begging for mercyas they are kicked and beaten with sticks and stones.

According to the Tanda police station in charge Vijay Vaskale, the victims, aged 19 and 20, were beaten up by their relatives on June 22 in Pipalva village, around 70 kilometers from Dhardistrict headquarters.

“On June 25, we came across a video showing two women getting beaten up mercilessly. We verified the clip and discovered that their family members were assaulting them,” saidpolice officer Vaskale.

Later, the victims were taken to Tanda police station and a case was registered based on their complaint. Reportedly, their family members were enraged because the women were chatting onthe phone with their maternal uncle's sons.

The victims told police that their paternal cousins and other family members had stopped them near a school in the village.

Recently, another video of a similar incident had gone viral on social media. In the video, a 19-year old girl was dragged, tied to a tree and beaten up with sticks by several people forleaving in-laws' house after a few months of marriage.
