The cinemas have been witnessing many major releases at the start of August. Today, on August 1, the audience will be enjoying the romantic drama Dhadak 2. It is worth mentioning that the people were extremely happy and were looking forward to enjoying the movie as soon as the trailer dropped.
The film has been directed by Shazia Iqba, and the producers for the same include Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud 9 Pictures. Notably, the film stars Tripti Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
It is worth praising that the film is also known to have a strong musical lineup, and the songs have indeed become popular among the fans.
Although Dhadak 2 is not really a sequel, it is being touted in filmmaker circles as the spiritual successor to the 2018 smash hit Dhadak, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. But once again, here the story turns out to be deeper and more striking and is inspired by the highly acclaimed Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. The plot has been rewritten keeping a Hindi-speaking audience in mind, but at the same time, it has the potent themes of love, caste, and identity.
The movie was released amid the resurgence of romantic dramas at the movies, leading Dhadak 2 into the theatres on a wave of viewer interest when the previous entry, Saiyaara, struck big under the genre it represents. The attention now goes to how the film itself will fare at the box office and to what extent the film can balance between critical reception and commercial success.
Dhadak 2 is an emotionally charged romantic film that does not hesitate to address social problems that are not black or white. Based on the harsh realities of the conspiracy of caste based discrimination and social pressure, the film is a tear-jerking tale of two law students, Neelesh and Vidhi, who fall in love and their love is challenged by the very world they are trying to know more about through their law profession.
Important roles and supporting characters Virtuous and defiant yet very ordinary, Siddhant Chaturvedi does a good job as a wanted, strong-willed young man who is forced to stay ahead of the game despite what the world metes out to him. The story follows Neelesh, who has to face discrimination at college and overcome personal turmoil with grit, pain, and a never-ending hope of change.
Across him, there is Triptii Dimri, who portrays the role of Vidhi, a girl who is torn between loving Neelesh and the stronger within her upper-caste family. The fact that she (the narrator) has an inner conflict makes the story full of emotion because the couple is moving through worlds that are constantly trying to separate them.
Dhadak 2 is an adaptation of the Tamil critically acclaimed movie Pariyerum Perumal (2018).
According to the reports, the film is planned to be released on Netflix after its theatrical run. However, the streaming date for the film has not been announced yet, but the digital rights have been secured by the OTT platform, for sure. It is expected that the Bollywood film will release on Netflix around late September or early October 2025, following the basic trend.
